Edo Governorship Election 2024: Reasons Why Obaseki/PDP Was Voted Out in September 21 2024 Elections. - Politics

 

n my own opinion, technically, people of Edo did not vote in APC or Monday Okpebholo rather, they technically voted against Godwin Obaseki the incumbent Governor. These are my views/reasons..

1. Obaseki alleged interference with the highly revered Benin "Obaship" structure. Benin no be kano where they unbundled Emirate.

2. Victimisation of his former deputy, Philip Shuaibu, despite the court ruling reinstating him yet, he refused to honour the court judgement. No matter the offense of Shuaibu, he should have forgiven him considering the first impression/loyalty that people say it lasts longer... Shuaibu stood by him and even defected to PDP with him when his political ship was sinking. Most people never believed Shuaibu could take side against his mentor -Oshiomole.

3. Adams Oshiomole's influence. Like him or hate him? Adams still remains a heavy weight in Edo politics. A former governor and an Incumbent senator that controls one-third of Edo political region/space

Obasekis major crime was fighting the Palace.
The people reverence the palace a lot, the Oba won’t talk publicly but will send foot Soilders to do the job.

Obasekis greed of artifacts that came with N50 billion finished him.

2. He fought Legacy PDP headed by Dan Orbhi. All the heavy weight in Edo North he fought them, that’s why nobody fought against the rigging that happened in Edo North.


3. He fought Ogbede Ihama, the govt candidate that stepped down for him to get ticket in 2020. Haba, the guy is a heavy weight politician in Benin.

4. He is a block head, he doesn’t listen to advice. He is called an emperor, anything he says is a law cheesy

5. He fought Wike. Haba, Wike that has been dragging the balls of Atiku and all PDP governors

6. He prevented Obidients from using the stadium and Garrick for campaign. Ordinary political rally. That’s why they left him to suffer.

7. The people always complained that his road do wash off after 6 months, he paid zero attention. Edo was constructing closed gutter roads, Obaseki took us back to open gutter roads.


8. He ate Edo People money alone. He didn’t share among politicians. If you check all the construction in Benin. They are done by one construction company. I mean every single government project. That means there was no bidding.

9. He didn’t pay college of education staff pension for 4-years, just because they protested. Obaseki doesn’t forgive. He is a devil. Devils are casted out.
