The real problem isn’t whether the money exists as Ramphosa says. it’s who absorbs the risk as Dangote emphasizes. Make power projects bankable in local currency, match debt to the currency of cash flows, provide credible FX guarantees where necessary, and use government only to de-risk the structure rather than subsidize bad projects. Once currency risk, pricing risk and political risk are properly allocated, private capital will follow. |
