Edwin Omokhuale Arrested Over $23 Million Fraud - Crime

 

Lagos real estate CEO arrested over a $23million fraud committed in the U.K while trying to catch a flight to Paris.

A 39-year old Nigerian man, Edwin Omokhuale, wanted by the UK’s National Crime Agency NCA in connection with an multi-million euro fra¥d, has been arrested at Dublin Airport in Ireland.

Omokhuale was detained by officers from An Garda Síochána on Wednesday afternoon while he was about to board a flight to Paris. His arrest was made on the basis of a warrant issued by the UK.

He is facing money la¥ndrring charges linked to an fra¥d committed against an Australian mining company in early 2023, involving approximately US$23 million about €19.7 million.

Investigators believe the fra¥dsters were based in the UK and are suspected of deceiving employees of the mining company into transferring funds to bank accounts under their control.

Omokhuale was living in the UK at the time of the fra¥d, according to reports.

He is expected to appear before a court in Dublin today, Thursday, September 10, as extradition proceedings to return him to the UK get underway.
