Governor Siminalayi Fubara Has Signed The ₦1.84 Trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill

 

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has signed the ₦1.84 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, describing the moment as “a breath of fresh air” and a sign of a healthier relationship among the key stakeholders in the state.

At the brief signing ceremony at Government House, Port Harcourt, the Governor expressed appreciation to the Rivers State House of Assembly for the diligence with which the budget was considered and passed.

Gov. Sim Fubara also acknowledged the role of FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, in facilitating the meeting and process that culminated in the passage and signing of the budget.

Beyond the figures, the Governor said the focus remains firmly on development, progress and the welfare of Rivers people, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the Rivers First mantra.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, in his remarks, said the provisions in the budget demonstrate the Governor’s willingness to move the state forward and deliver the dividends of democracy.

With the 2026 budget now signed into law, Rivers State enters a new phase, one Governor Fubara says should be defined by cooperation, cordiality and a shared commitment to the progress of the state.
