Deputy Governor of Lagos State and Lagos APC Governorship Candidate, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.

The Lagos APC Gubernatorial candidate explained his focus on strategies to improve Transportation and being able to move as many people around generally across Lagos State by increasing the integration of water, rail, and road transport.

- The OMI EKO Project: The continuation of the recently launched ‘OMI EKO Project’ by Governor Sanwo-Olu (17-11-2025), which seeks to introduce 77 electric ferries across Lagos waterways, routing ferries parallel to 3rd mainland bridge, new Morden terminals, new dredging routes to open up more channels and many more, the aim is to increase water usage for daily commuting and connect villages, neighborhoods, and city hubs.

- RAILWAY: The continuation of the #BlueLineRail linking Mile 2 to Okokomaiko and also linking the #RedLineRail with the #BlueLineRail at National Theatre. The lines are expected to move 500,000 people daily, dramatically improving cross-city mobility and shorten travel times, which will enable wider housing choices for commuters.

- BUS RAPID TRANSIT: Dr Hamzat has advocated for large BRT buses to move large passenger volumes, which is standard practice across the world. He says the Mini-buses are not sufficient enough for the passenger volume in the State.

- ROAD EXPANSION: He specifically referenced the Mende–Ojota Link Bridge and a planned phase two connection to the third axial road before the Third Mainland Bridge, he says this combined approach roads, BRT, rail, and ferries is meant to decongest main arteries and improve overall traffic flow.

Finally, For Housing, Accessibility and General Economic Impact, Dr Hamzat says a place like Ajara Estate, Badagry, once the transportation plans (rail, BRT, expanded roads and alternatives are right) residents that live farther from workplaces will have better access to the city center, which will drive prosperity, enable trade, industry, and innovation by reducing travel friction.

The Deputy Governor once again says moving people around massively and easily is a major importance to a big City like Lagos State.
