UNDERSTANDING STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS
In Nigeria, every business coach talks about building systems and structures and when I listen to them, I just laugh.
See eh, forget those motivational talks from people who don’t even understand what systems are. Systems are not Personal Assistants answering your call or customers talking to your support team.
Systems are STANDARDISED PROCESSES…
How many of those talking about systems are ISO Certified?
How many of them are NDPC compliant?
How many of them have a Board that has the power to sack them as CEO?
How many of them need to convince a board to access funds from their business account?
How many of them have SOPs?
See eh, packaging is not system and eloquence is not structure.
Systems and structures start with your own PERSONAL approach as a founder.
There is a massive gulf between Instagram business coaching and the raw, gritty reality of operating in the Nigerian market.
True systems mean real corporate governance, legal compliance, and rigid, repeatable operational data processes like ISO Certification or NDPC data privacy compliance.
Some of you go even collect investments from every d!ck and Tom without any form of governance yet you preach systems and structures.
And if you live in Nigeria, forget too much talk about systems and structures. Rugged your way out first. You can fix structures once you have figured out exactly what you are doing. You cannot automate or systemise chaos; you have to survive it and tame it first.
The way I lead business in South Africa is not how I lead business in Nigeria
